I never thought of riding a giant bottle rocket into orbit after watching Wile E Coyote chase the Road Runner as a kid, but those power skates sure looked cool. Lo and behold, somebody evented a pair driven by a 25cc gas engine capable of reaching 20mph in less than 20 seconds. Going is not the problem; apparently stopping is, Parents warned of powered skates that can reach 20mph, as well as a risk of fire. UK officials apparently have halted the sale of the skates but are concerned over internet sales. Not to fear, according to the article the skates are already available for purchase in the U.S. You have to love freedom don’t you? I’ve long said that the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness includes the right to be stupid, as long you don’t endanger someone else.
